What is So Choix?

So Choix is redefining the physical beauty counter experience by letting you touch and try beauty products in your own home, without ever leaving it! The future of retail is online - and we are the FIRST online beauty counter - where beauty shoppers can touch and try beauty products at home, online! Most of us don't have the time or energy to go to a physical retail store anymore - but even that experience is pretty bad - it’s kind of gross to sample the makeup and beauty products that have been sitting out all day for everyone to poke and prod at. But even the most avid online shopper can't physically touch or see products through their screen! So Choix is a hybrid between offline and online beauty shopping!

We are NOT a beauty box (even though we ship in a box!) – we don’t send you random samples from random companies.

Instead, think of us as your online makeup/beauty counter.  We let you browse our “makeup aisles” and choose the products and colors you want to try from all of the beauty brands we carry. So Choix lets you make thoughtful decisions in your own natural environment and find the products you love!


What does So Choix mean?

CHOIX (pronounced “SHWAA”) is French for choice.

We chose the word Choix because:

(a) It sounds pretty;

(b) French women epitomize the ideal of effortless chic, timeless beauty, classic elegance, and own the elusive “Je ne sais quoi” by allowing themselves variety and choice, and,

(c) We give you choice.


How does So Choix work?

There are two ways you can start to So Choix!

1. Become an ELITE member and subscribe for $15 a month, and every month you'll get your choice of 5 beauty products to try. Choose any products you want to try from all the luxury brands and products we carry and you'll also earn 250 points ($5 credit) every month! If you’d like to purchase additional samples on top of your monthly box, you can for just $3.

Members can then fill their QUEUE with all the products they desire – and just like Netflix – we’ll send you the top 5 products every month (for ELITE members). You can add, edit, and delete products from your queue as you wish

2. Or, become a PETITE member for just $50. You'll automatically receive 10 samples to choose and to use within the year at your own leisure! There's no monthly commitment and you're able to purchase additional samples for $3 each, which includes free shipping! Petite memberships are billed annually.

You can also generate your own a-la-carte orders should you be itching to try the next few samples in your queue!


Do I have to be a member to access your online store and order samples?
Anyone can access our website and purchase full-size products and curated boxes (which do contain our So Choix samples). However, only So Choix members can pick and choose the samples they wish to try.

How does the $5 store credit work?

For So Choix Elite members:

Each month you earn 250 points (equal to $5 store credit every month), that can be accumulated (with no expiration!), stacked (up to $20), and redeemed towards any product at So Choix! You can also earn 50 points per review by reviewing the products you've sampled.

For Petite members:

As a Petite member you earn 50 points per sample, and once you've accumulated at least 250 points you'll be able to redeem it towards store credit! You can also earn 50 points per review by reviewing the products you've sampled.


If I buy multiple samples can I stack my $5 credit?

For So Choix Elite members:

Every month your points/credit can be stacked for a maximum redemption of 1000 points ($20) on a $100 minimum order.

For So Choix Petite members:

You'll earn 50 points per sample which can be stacked for a maximum redemption of 1000 points ($20) on a $100 minimum order.


Do you have a rewards program?
We do, but our rewards program is only available for our So Choix members! Learn more about So Choix Membership loyalty rewards here

Why can I only buy a maximum of four of any full-size product?
Due to high demand, and to ensure fairness amongst all our customers, we can only allow customers to order no more than 4 full-size units of an item every sixty days.

What is your return and exchange policy?

We’re pretty reasonable people here at So Choix so if you’re not happy with the products or service please let us know within a reasonable timeframe (up to 2 weeks), and we will do our best to make you happy.

Please be assured that we do want to offer you the service and experience we expect for ourselves (after all, we are consumers too!).

However, if you're still a bit nervous about our refund and exchange policy we have put together some clear rules below, that apply to full-size products only. We are not able to offer refunds on any of our So Choix samples because these are customized especially for you! Please read more about our So Choix samples at sochoix.com/samples.

To be eligible for a return or exchange, full-sized items must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging. There are certain situations where we will grant partial refunds: Any item not in its original condition, is used, or is non-resellable for reasons NOT due to our error. And also for any item that is returned more than 14 days after delivery to you will also be granted a partial refund.

Don't worry, you won't be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. We will gladly refund this extra cost. Just email us and we will give you instructions on how to return the item.

And lastly, please be patient as the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary since we all live in different parts of the country!


How many points can be redeemed for store credit?

Points can be redeemed at the following levels


250 points = $5 off orders of $25 or more
500 points = $10 off orders of $50 or more
750 points = $15 off orders of $75 or more
1000 points = $20 off orders of $100 or more

*Maximum redemption for store credit is 1000 points at a time ($20 maximum per transaction over $100).


Can I use my $5, $10, $15, or $20 discount on a product I didn't sample?
Yes you can! This discount is not limited to products you sampled in your box.

How long do I have to use my $5 off (250 points)?
Points do not expire, however, points can only be redeemed in increments of 250 points ($5), 500 points ($10), 750 points ($15), and 1000 points ($20).

How does referring a friend work?

You can refer friends via email using your personalized referral link (accessible from your So Choix Elite account page) and via social media.

Personal invite links should not be shared with yourself or with individuals that are part of your household. Personal invite links should only be used for personal and non-commercial purposes. Invite links can be shared with personal connections via email, Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, Instagram etc. in which you are the primary owner of the content. Public distribution on sites where you are a contributor and not the primary content owner (e.g., Wikipedia, coupon websites, etc.) is not allowed. Promoting your invite code via search engine marketing (e.g., AdWords/Yahoo/Bing) is also not allowed. Use of personal invite links must also comply with So Choix's Terms of Service.

So Choix reserves the right to suspend your account and/or revoke any and all referral credits at any time if we feel they were earned inappropriately.

This referral program does not apply to those who are given a complementary So Choix box for PR purposes or for review.


If I use my $5, $10, $15, or $20 reward on a full-size purchase, do I accumulate points?
If you use your reward points on a full-size purchase you still earn points on this purchase for any dollar amount greater than the $5, $10, $15, or $20 credit you used. For example, if you spend $50 on a full-size purchase and you use your $10 credit, you will receive 40 points (80 points if it is a product you sampled in your box!).


Samples

How do I know I'm actually sampling the brand and the product I chose?

We take pride in offering 100% authentic brands and products on So Choix, so please be assured that you're trying on the genuine brand and the genuine product you choose! We want to provide a service by bringing the beauty counter to you - so that you can touch and try products that you wouldn’t normally be able to try properly when you go into a store, and so that you can see if the product lives up to a standard you are happy with before committing to buying the full-size product!

If we weren’t giving you genuine products from the brands we offer, you would find out quite quickly if you went out and bought the full-size somewhere else besides buying the full size from us - and that would defeat the purpose of trying the sample in the first place! What if I don’t want to/can’t choose what samples I want? Can you choose for me?
If you love that surprise element, sure, we can surprise you with samples! Just send us an email at support@sochoix.com to let us know and we’ll take care of the rest.

What type of samples are these?
Our professional So Choix Cosmetic Consultants measure out the perfect sized sample from the full size product, and beautifully package each sample in brand new sample containers following the strictest FDA requirements. We then mail these samples out to you for you to try in the privacy of your own home. We give you enough product to try on for the day or a night out, so you can see if you love it.

How much sample do I receive?
You will get a generous sample for approximately one “regular” use. You will get much more than drawing a couple of lines on the back of your hand like you do at the makeup store, and what’s more, you will get to put it on your face where it belongs! Please note, that “regular use” means somewhere in between not drowning yourself to look like you’re wearing clown makeup, but definitely enough to actually properly test the product out for a day in the office, or brunch with friends.

Can I get multiple samples of the same product?
With So Choix we give you enough product to try out for the day or a night out so you can know if you really love the product. Since we are all different and wear different amounts of makeup you can choose up to 2 of the same product and shade in your monthly box. Of course you're free to sample as many different shades of the same product as you like in your box!

Are samples available from every brand and every product that you have in your online store?
Yes, samples are available for everything we have online! You choose which samples you want to try.

Will you be getting more products and brands?
Absolutely! We are still growing and negotiating with companies so please keep checking in. Our goal is to revolutionize the way we sample and buy beauty products, so we would eventually love to offer every premium and luxury brand on the market.

How hygienic is this?

At So Choix, we are always striving for the best quality in both the products and service we offer. Paying strict attention to stringent hygiene procedures as well as the proper storage and proper use of tools, our So Choix Cosmetic Consultants weigh out the necessary sample from the full-size product and put it in a brand-new sample container. We do not need to touch the actual makeup to do this.

This is much more hygienic than sampling a lipstick or eyeshadow in the makeup store that has been poked and prodded by hundreds of strangers, right? No-one else has used your sample jar, the jar is brand-new and filled just for you. No-one has used the full-sized product either, it remains totally un-used except to make more samples.

With each set of products that you choose we also include the appropriate applicators (mascara wand, sponge, etc.) for you to use.

I have allergies to certain products and ingredients. What do I do?
Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee that your sample box won't contain any specific products or ingredients. If you have known allergies to certain products/ingredients, and/or are particularly sensitive to makeup products, we highly suggest that you first check the product's ingredients before you test out your samples.

Where is the ingredient list for the products?
Ingredients are available on the manufacturer’s website of the brands we carry, but if you cannot find the information you are looking for, please email us at support@sochoix.com and we can help you. If you are worried about allergies to ingredients in makeup products we do recommend and suggest looking into these ingredients before trying on the samples. Samples are for cosmetic and external use only. If you are unsure of certain ingredients, it is probably best not to order these samples and full-size products, particularly if you are sensitive and prone to allergic reactions.


General Membership Questions

Will my membership automatically renew?
Yes, all of our memberships automatically renew although you can cancel your membership at any time. Please note that if you sign up for a 3, 6, or 12 month membership your membership will automatically renew at the end of your membership period for the same length of time (i.e. if you sign-up for a 3 month membership it will renew for another 3-months at the end of your first 3 months).

Is your sign-up process secure?
Yes! Ensuring that your personal information is secure is incredibly important to us. All of the form elements and information submitted on our check-out page are generated and handled by secure servers.

How do I buy additional samples for $3?
You can purchase additional sample credits here for just $3 each! These credits will then be added to your queue, and once you have the items you'd like to try in your queue, you can then click "Create my order" on the queue page, and our team will get started on creating your order!

How do I cancel my membership?
We’d hate to see you leave but cancelling is easy. Simply click "Account" in the upper right-hand corner of the site, then click "Manage Subscriptions" and you'll see an option to cancel on the next page. Or send us an email at support@sochoix.com and we will cancel your membership.

What is So Choix Elite?

So Choix Elite is our monthly membership program where for $15 per month you get to build your own queue of luxury beauty products to try, and each month we'll send you the top 5 items in your queue, along with many additional benefits! Each month you earn 250 points (equal to $5 store credit every month), that can be accumulated (with no expiration!), stacked (up to $20), and redeemed towards any product at So Choix! You're also eligible to earn bonus points on full-size product purchases, earn double and triple points on special offers, and more! You also get exclusive access to our So Choix Elite gift items where you can redeem points towards exclusive So Choix items, cosmetics bags, and premium samples!

If you’d like to purchase additional samples above and beyond your monthly box, you’re also able to do this in your queue! No need to wait every month for your beauty products to arrive, especially if you’re dying to try the next few items in your queue!


How will I be notified when it is time to order samples for the next month?
If you have more than 5 items in your queue there's nothing you need to do, we'll automatically send you the next 5 items in your queue! If you have less than five items we'll send you an email letting you know that you can add more items to your queue!

How do I choose and order my samples?
To start building your queue, log-in to your So Choix account. Once logged in, browse to any product page, choose the color you'd like to sample, and then click the "Add to sample queue" button! You don't need to worry about selecting full-size or trial-size, our system will automatically add a sample of that product to your queue. Once you have 5 products in your queue, you can click "Create my order" on your queue page, or wait for our system to automatically generate an order for you within 24 hours!

How long do I have to choose my samples for the month?
As soon as you have 5 items in your queue we'll automatically start creating your first customized box of So Choix samples! And as long as you have more than 5 items in your queue we'll automatically create your next customized So Choix box for you. If you have less than five items we'll send you an email letting you know that you can add more items to your queue and you can take as much time as you need building out your queue because your sample credits don't expire! What happens if I don't choose my samples?
We automatically create your customized So Choix box with the next 5 items in your sample queue so there's no need to worry about choosing the makeup you want to try by a certain date! If you have less than 5 products in your queue we'll send you an email letting you know to add more products to your queue! Your sample credits never expire but to ensure you get your monthly box our system will automatically add 5 surprise items (lovingly chosen by our So Choix cosmetic consultants) to your queue to make sure you get your monthly box.

I'm traveling this month and need to put my membership on hold for a month. Is this possible?
Sure! Just email us at support@sochoix.com at least 3 days before the start of your next billing cycle and let us know so we can go ahead and put it on hold!

How do I get more than 5 samples?
If you'd ever like to order more than 5 samples in one month, you can purchase additional sample credits for $3 each! To purchase additional sample credits navigate to your queue, and click "Buy More" in the upper right corner. One (1) credit is good for one (1) So Choix sample, and the credits will be applied to your account within 30 minutes of purchasing them! Once you've added the items you want to your queue, click "Create my order" and we'll get started on your personalized So Choix box! Like other So Choix orders, any additional samples purchased ship 3-5 business days after you've chosen the makeup you want to try via USPS First Class Mail. Once your order ships it takes USPS an average of 3-5 business days (although sometimes up to 7-10 business days) to get to you depending on which part of the country you are in (we ship from San Francisco CA).

I would like to have my extra samples combined with my regular monthly box, how do I do that?
If you'd like to receive any additional samples you've purchased as one shipment with your monthly So Choix box, we recommend waiting until your membership renews for the month and purchasing the additional sample credits then! You can then use the "Create my order button" in your queue and our fulfillment team will combine your selections into one shipment for you!

Is there a minimum quantity for purchasing extra samples as a member and is shipping still free?
When ordering additional samples through your queue we do require that a minimum of three be ordered. However shipping is still free via USPS First Class mail!

How does the annual membership work?
With the annual membership option you can pre-pay for a full year of So Choix and get two months free! You'll get all the same benefits of monthly membership: your choice of 5 samples every month, 250 So Choix Elite points ($5 credit), and free shipping!

Can I cancel my annual membership or a discounted membership?
If you'd like to cancel your annual membership or a discounted membership send us an email at support@sochoix.com and we will pro-rate back the remaining portion of your subscription at the standard monthly membership rate of $15 per month. For example, if you purchased a membership for $150 and canceled after 3 months you would receive a $105 refund ($150 annual subscription minus 3 months of membership at $15/month).

What happens if I cancel, but I received a gift for signing-up for a membership?
If you purchased a 3, 6, or 12 month membership, and received a gift as part of your membership purchase, you'll receive a pro-rated refund minus the cost of the gift that you received. For example, if the value of the gift you received was $20, we would deduct $20 from your membership refund.
How does So Choix Elite rewards work?

By becoming a So Choix Elite member, you'll be automatically enrolled in the So Choix Elite loyalty program which includes 250 points every month (equal to $5 store credit every month).

    Can I accumulate my 250 points ($5 credit) every month? If I don't use it one month does it rollover to the next month?
    Yes you can accumulate your 250 points ($5 credit) every month. However, points can only be redeemed in increments of 250 points ($5), 500 points ($10), 750 points ($15), and 1000 points ($20) with a maximum redemption per purchase of $20. For example, if you’ve been a So Choix member for 5 months and you’ve saved your 250 points for 5 months, totaling 1250 points. You would be able to redeem 1000 points (on any product purchase of $100 or more), and you would still have 250 points in your account.

    Can points be used on my membership fee so that I can get a free month?
    No, points can only be used towards the purchase of full-size products in the store, or in the rewards section of the website.


    So Choix Petite Membership

    What is So Choix Petite membership?

    We know a lot of you love trying products at your own leisure. You don’t need or want a monthly subscription but you’re still a beauty addict and want to try beauty products at your own pace.

    Well, So Choix petite is just for you! It’s our mini version of So Choix Elite without a monthly commitment. Perfect for those who want all the benefits of a membership ($3 samples and free shipping to name a few!).

    As soon as you sign up for $50, you’ll automatically receive 10 samples credits to use up at your own leisure (these are good for a year) but we totally know most of you use these 10 up in 1 order! And if you do, you’re then able to purchase more samples at your leisure for $3 each.


    How much is So Choix Petite?
    So Choix Petite is only $50 per year. Once you sign up to Petite, you’ll be able to start using your beauty queue! Fill it up with all the items you want to try and create your own orders at your leisure!

    How do I choose and order my samples for So Choix Petite?
    1. Add sample credits to your cart, and checkout – they’ll automatically get added to your queue. One credit equals one sample, so purchase as many or as few as you want!
    2. Go to any product page and click the "Add to sample queue" button. Add as many products as you want to your queue!
    3. Re-arrange and perfect your queue! Then once you're ready, place your order by clicking on "Create my order" on your queue page.

    How come I don't see my credits in my queue?
    Sometimes it can take up to 10 minutes for the credits to hit your queue, so thanks for your patience on this! If however, after this time you still haven’t received your credits simply email us at support@sochoix.com and we’ll get you going in no time.

    Is there a minimum or a maximum to the number of samples I want to choose?
    There is a minimum quantity purchase of 3 samples credits at a time, and there’s no maximum! The sky is the limit!

    Is shipping free?
    Yes shipping is free!

    How does the points system work for Petite members?
    As a Petite member:
    • You’ll receive 50 points per sample every time you sample!
    • You’ll also receive 50 points for each product you write a review for!
    • And you'll earn 1 point per dollar spent on full size items!
    Be sure to look out for our points bonanza days where you can earn double and triple points! The points your earn can be redeemed for store credit and items in our members-only gift shop!


    Shipping

    What are your shipping charges?
    Shipping is free on all your So Choix orders over $15! If you order is less than $15 we charge $3 for shipping anywhere in the US. And if you'd like to get your order sooner, an expedited shipping option is available for $10.

    When will my order arrive?
    We usually ship your box 3-5 business days after you've chosen the makeup you want to try via USPS First Class Mail. Once your order ships it takes USPS an average of 3-5 business days (although sometimes up to 7-10 business days) to get to you depending on which part of the country you are in (we ship from San Francisco CA). Please know that the USPS delivery date estimate is USPS's best guess on arrival and is not a guaranteed delivery date as unexpected and unforeseen conditions can sometimes cause delays.

    Do you ship outside of the USA?
    We would love to one day! But sadly, not right now.
